Karen Landis Knauf

Karen Knauf is an energetic, proven leader with broad experience in technology markets, as well as technical and community outreach organizations. Her public and non-profit sector expertise includes: program and event management and development, strategic planning, budget forecasting and cost analysis, training, and interpreting complex government policies and regulations. She’s also adept at analyzing the fiscal impact of publicly funded programs and overseeing financial feasibility data reporting.

Karen’s extensive career ranges from planning and managing New Mexico’s largest charitable community service event to analyzing and reviewing Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s annual billion-dollar budget. She’s also owned her own consulting firm and worked at Lockheed Missiles and Space Company where she was in charge of planning research, and budget distribution strategies.

She has been involved in community government having worked for the County Office of Comprehensive Planning in Fairfax, Virginia and served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Danville Chamber of Commerce in Danville, California. While there, she spearheaded the successful effort to expand Danville's economic base. She’s lent her expertise to charities as well, serving on the boards of directors of Musical Theater of the Southwest, Congregation Albert, Jewish Family Service of New Mexico, and Albuquerque Academy.

Karen has a bachelor’s in political science and a master’s in public administration in urban affairs from The American University in Washington, D.C. She’s taught graduate-level courses in urban and regional economics as an adjunct faculty member at Catholic University in Washington, D.C.

William M. Knauf
President
Bill Knauf is an experienced and accomplished corporate leader who also has a distinguished record of public service. His resume reflects a successful career of leadership and responsibility in accountable positions managing large and sensitive programs and portfolios in support of national security, economic development, and workforce development interests.

Prior to co-owning AIG, Bill served as Deputy Director and Chief of Staff for Sandia National Laboratories’ national security programs where he oversaw program operations and administration; and maintained executive-level management interactions with the U.S. Departments of Energy, State and Homeland Security and the national intelligence agencies. He also supported Sandia’s president developing initiatives with the political, business, and education communities in New Mexico.

Previously, Bill also served as Vice President for Defense Programs and Albuquerque Operations for the Battelle Memorial Institute. He represented Battelle corporately in the Southwest and directed its operations and activities that supported the DOE’s weapons programs. Prior to his defense programs work, he also served as Vice President for Battelle’s Transportation Programs and as Director for strategic planning programs.

During more than 20 years of public service, Bill held senior-level appointed positions with the U.S. Departments of State and Energy in Washington D.C. He also served as a legislative assistant in the U.S. House of Representatives and as an administrative and assistant investigative counsel to a U.S. Senate subcommittee.

Bill served his country during tours of duty as an Army intelligence and infantry officer in Europe, Vietnam, and the U.S. He’s lent his expertise to many government task forces and technical committees including the DOE National Task Force on Combating Terrorism, and the DOE Weapons Program Modernization Task Force. He is also an appointed Senior Member of the Institute of Nuclear Materials Management.

Bill is also a leader in his community, chairing a number of boards including New Mexico First, Junior Achievement of New Mexico, the Middle Rio Grande Business and Education Collaborative, the Albuquerque Business and Education Compact and the Community Economics Laboratory. Other Board affiliations have included the Executive Board of the Waste Management Education and Research Consortium and YDI/YES Housing Inc. He’s actively supported education and economic development activities throughout his career.

Bill graduated from the Georgetown University Walsh School of Foreign Service in Washington, D.C. with a bachelor of sciences degree in International Relations and European Political Studies.
